Word of the Director

As a Faculty of the University of Caen Normandie, ESIX Normandie occupies a unique and important place in the building of knowledge and expertise in this attractive French region.

From the day it was created in 2009, ESIX has built its reputation on the quality of its academics, its innovative teaching methods and well-established practices in training courses in the fields of agro-food engineering, industrial systems engineering, mechatronics and embedded systems.

We have based our teaching methods on project-based learning and hands-on experience to unlock our students’ full potential. Our teaching staff is composed of university lecturers and researchers, and recognized professionals who are experts in Agri-Food, Mechatronics, Embedded Systems, Industrial Engineering, Production and Nuclear Engineering. We also rely on solid partnerships with leading industrial companies to give our students the field experience they need for their future.

Our aim is to help students develop the skills needed to succeed in their engineering training, and give them the keys to their career ahead, training engineers who are aware of, and able to understand and analyze the complexity of the world, and who can meet the current and future needs of industries

Sébastien SAEZ, Director of ESIX Normandie

History

In 2009, ESIX Normandie was officially created through the merger of two separate entities: the École d’ingénieurs de Cherbourg (EIC), founded in 1993 and initially specialized in Industrial Production, and an engineering program in the Agro-Food industry whose origins date back to the 1960s. In 2014, ESIX welcomed a third program focused on Embedded Systems at the Caen campus.

ESIX Normandie is part of the University of Caen Normandie, which means every student has access to a multidisciplinary teaching and scientific environment, as well as the full range of UNICAEN services (Fablabs, academic library, medical services, sports facilities…). ESIX Normandie is authorized by the Commission des Titres d’Ingénieurs (CTI) to deliver engineering degrees under student or apprenticeship status.
